OK, after leaving Tizi Ouzou for Alger, we figured on the coastal road.
That was a bad idea. Driving was fun though , specially since the road was so mucked up it looked like an off road stage.
But there were other conditions that forced us to go via the main road. To be updated later. Progress was very very slow.
Got to Alger, found a hotel with some difficulty and raced off to the harbour for some tickets. Surprise 1, double the price of the Marseille to Tunis tickets.
Another surprise; some surcharge to be paid in cash for using a credit card.
Out of money again, we tried about 10 banks, but none had a machine that would give us cash on the 4 cards we had betzeen us...
Some creative solution was sought, and we ended up with enough for food and the taxi back to the hotel.
The Casba closes early for some reason; and there was so much rubbish there it was not very appealing. We were also warned it may not be completely safe, but tied out backpacks to the front and made our way around.
The hotelis located in the old French area, and you can still see many old - usually poorly maintained - houses that give you a good impression of the good life they must have had here..
Had some cash left for a beer, and ended up in a very sleezy place so finished our drinks and got out.
Back for an early night and another try to upload some of that video!
Tomorrow we think we'll be on the boat.
