OK, I did leave a tiny detail out on this leg. We are driving around 110 and 120 more or less all the time on the highways. And suddenly this large flashing red triangle light came on.
Yes, it is the same one some people ignore and try to drive to the garage or next petrol station with.
I pulled the clutch and stopped the engine straight away and tried to get Andre's attention.
Not good.
Anyway, we stopped just by the side of the BMW dealer ....can you believe it. Quickly checked; no oil... in the sideglass. I had checked a few days ago, but we'd done about 1500 km at least since then....I feared the worst, but could not find any leaks; or a greasy exhaust, so things were looking up. Boxer engines always tend to use a little above average.
Some mechanics came out but due to the large fence (peaje) and language barrier we could not do much: They offered some oil, but we had some in our kit. Put 350 ml and that put it back to the top. So the light was an early warning one.
After getting back on the road we checked after about 10 km's and shortly after again all seemed fine.
Until I nearly had a heart attack, when an orange light came on. But quickly determined it was a low petrol alert.
I will be checking oil daily now for sure!!!
