Leaving the le Puy area, we hit this small mountain range, and temperatures dropped again. Put on some more clothes just to make sure....The summer jacket was clearly not an option.
Good fun driving on the smaller roads and when stopping for lunch, we found this nice little restaurant. Some serious bikes were parked outside. Naked and lightweight to the max, we walked inside for a seat. The first thing Andre remarked, that one of the biker group already had a wooden leg.....oeps.
They were also enjoying the typical French alcohol lunch....hmmm.
Anyway, a good lunch and we got underway again, picking up both highway and smaller roads for a combination of fun and progress.
Near Blois we stopped at a castle called Chenonceau, built as a brigdge accross the river, a fast flowing one at that. Construction must have been fun. I was particularly impressed with the bedrooms and kitchens....
They clearly enjoyed the good life.
Again the question came to mind what side I would have been on in those days....and this brings the point home of the have's and the have not's in general.
Found a camping just around the corner, which was near empty and we set about for our last camp. I decided to go directly home from here, so I could help Anneke with my mother, her packing and transfer of the house with the solicitors. Had dinner in a tiny old castle mansion just a few hundred meters away, which we enjoyed with some nice wine.
Back on the camp site, it was time for our freeze dried Pina Colada and we sat and discussed the trip a little. It was kind of a nice moment. The drink actually tasted quite nice.
Both of us a little disappointed that we had not done the original round, but both had really enjoyed our time together and on the road. Andre has been a good companion and friend, taking care of me when I was ill.
In the middle of the night, some guy on a dirt bike seemed to whizz past about 20 times going full throttle and up the gears...other than that, a good sleep.
This is about 250 km south of Paris, and tomorrow to decide if I can make it back in one day of hard riding, or split in two and take it easy.

Salut Andre
vient me rejoindre là-bas (je plaisante).
J'ai pas bien compris si tu étais rentré définitivement ou si tu repartais?
bon courage.
Daniel Benoît.
Hi Andre
I try to follow from time to time reviews of your trip.
Unfortunately, my English is quite limited but I realized it was still pretty hectic.
In few days we might have met in Marseille or on the road I come back from Toulon.
On June 5 until June 20th I will be in Mali in the north west France for EA.
come join me there (just kidding).
I do not understand if you were returned permanently or if you leave again?
Good luck.
Daniel Benoit.
